Terms of service

Plain language on purpose. These are the terms PlainQuill operates under, written to be read rather than to be survived. They are in force. Where a sentence here could be read two ways, we will take the reading that is worse for us.

1. What the service does

PlainQuill researches, writes and publishes content for your business on a schedule you approve. Content is produced by AI systems, checked by automated tooling and by a separate reviewing model, and then placed in your approval queue.

2. Your approval

Nothing publishes to your channels until you approve it. You are the publisher and you have final say on every piece. We do not publish anything on your behalf without your approval.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for the credentials you connect for your own site and social accounts. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.

4. Payment, refunds and cancellation

This section changed on 5 October 2026. A full refund now turns on fewer than 7 articles having been generated since the payment. Until that date it turned on fewer than half of the month's planned articles. Payments taken before that date keep whichever of the two gives you more.

  • Plans are billed in advance, in US dollars, per site. You choose monthly or annual billing when you subscribe.
  • An annual plan is charged once for twelve months of service at ten months of the monthly price, and renews once every twelve months on the same date until you cancel. A monthly plan renews every month. Renewal is automatic either way.
  • The first payment is taken when you complete checkout, and the service is available to you from that moment. By subscribing you ask us to begin at once and you agree that we do, before any cancellation period the law would otherwise give you has run its course. The refund below is what you have instead of waiting.
  • You may ask for a refund of any payment within 7 days of it being taken. If fewer than 7 articles have been generated since that payment when you ask, we refund the payment in full. If 7 or more have been generated, we refund the part of it that covers the articles that have not been generated. The billing page of the dashboard shows how many articles have been generated since your last payment, so the figure the refund is worked out from is one you can read before you ask. It is the same on monthly and annual billing.
  • For a payment taken before 5 October 2026, the rule in force when you paid still applies wherever it gives you more: that payment is refunded in full while fewer than half of that month's planned articles have been generated.
  • If you have added human review, that part of the payment is worked out separately and in proportion to the articles a reviewer has actually read, not to the articles that have been generated. Those are different numbers, and the reviewer has already done the reading either way. The dashboard shows how many have been reviewed this period, so this figure is also one you can read before you ask.
  • You can cancel at any time from the dashboard. Cancellation stops the next charge and ends production at the end of the paid period, which on an annual plan is the end of the twelve months you have paid for.
  • Changing plan or billing interval reprices the subscription you already have rather than starting a second one, and the unused part of what you have already paid is credited against the new charge. Beyond the refund above we do not otherwise refund part periods on cancellation. If something goes wrong on our side, contact support and we will sort it out.
  • None of this takes a right from you that the law where you live gives you and does not let you sign away. Where such a right gives you more than this section does, it is that right which applies.
  • Promotional codes apply as described where they are offered and cannot be combined unless stated.
  • Founding members. A fixed number of founding seats is open to customers who pay for a plan: 100 more than had been taken when this offer was put on the pricing page. A seat is applied automatically when the first plan payment completes, if a seat is still open at that moment; there is no code and nothing to claim. A founding member keeps, on top of what their plan lists, 1 extra social network on Starter, 2 extra social networks on Growth, and 2 extra tracked searches and 50 extra images a month on Max. The amount follows the plan you are on, so it changes with your plan. It lasts for as long as you keep a paid subscription and ends when that subscription does. A seat is counted when the payment that takes it completes and is not released afterwards, not when the subscription ends and not when that payment is refunded, including in full. We may end the offer for new customers at any time and it closes once the seats are taken; anyone who already holds one keeps it.

5. Ownership of the content

Content produced for you and published on your channels is yours. You may edit, reuse, repurpose or delete it. If you cancel, content already published stays yours and stays where it is: pages on a blog we host keep serving at their PlainQuill address. A custom domain you connected serves for as long as its certificate remains active with your DNS pointed at us; if that lapses, the content itself is unaffected and remains served at the PlainQuill address. We may keep an internal record of what was produced and approved, because our publishing controls depend on that record.

6. Reviewing how your content was produced

To operate the service, keep it running and improve it, we may review the work the pipeline did on your behalf. That means the brief it wrote, the sources it fetched, the drafts, the results of the automated checks, the reviewing model's report and the published result. The review is carried out by us, including by automated tooling, and access is limited to what these purposes need.

There are three purposes and no others: to find and fix faults, to check the quality of what the service produces, and to improve how the service works. Improving the service means changing our prompts, our checks and our code. It does not mean training models on your content, which theprivacy policy rules out, and it does not mean selling your content or licensing it to anyone else.

This changes nothing about ownership. Section 5 stands in full: content produced for you is yours, and reviewing how it was made gives us no rights over it.

7. What we do not promise

  • We do not promise search rankings, traffic, leads, revenue or any other outcome that depends on your market and your competitors.
  • We do not provide backlink building or outreach, and nothing here should be read as an SEO performance guarantee.
  • We do report the position of your pages for queries you choose, and whether AI assistants cite your site when they answer those queries. These are measurements of what we observed on a given day, taken from a third-party search provider. They are not a guarantee of any position, they are not continuous, and a query we did not read on a given day has no reading for that day.
  • Our checks catch a great deal but they are not perfect. You are the final reviewer, and content you approve is published on your instruction.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to produce content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, that impersonates a real person or organisation, that gives regulated advice you are not qualified to give, or that is designed to deceive. We may refuse or stop work that falls into these categories.

When you connect a social network or another platform, that platform's own terms and policies also apply to everything published to it through PlainQuill, and you agree to follow them. We may decline to publish, or stop publishing, to a platform where doing so would break those rules.

The planning conversations carry a generous allowance measured against the articles you pay for, and automated use of them is limited. Our fair use policy says what the allowance is, what happens if you pass it, and when we would pause the chats on an account.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service running continuously, and we will not always succeed. Scheduled work can be delayed by upstream outages. We may change features and plans, and we will give notice of material changes to a plan you are on before they take effect.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability in connection with the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost search visibility. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, that is used unlawfully, or where payment fails and is not resolved. Where we end an account for convenience rather than for breach, we will refund the unused part of the current period.

12. The partner program

If we have issued you a referral code, you earn a fixed percentage of what a customer you referred actually pays for their plan, after any discount, for the first 12 months after their first paid plan invoice. The percentage is the one stated in the written approval that issued your code or, if none was sent, the one shown on your partner page in the dashboard. For a code issued before 5 October 2026, it is the rate these terms stated on the day the code was issued. The optional add-ons do not earn commission. A referral is attributed to the first code a visitor arrived with, within 60 days of that visit. Commission is not earned on any account you or your own business owns or pays for, which includes a second business of your own. Being a member of a customer's account, for example because they invited you to help review their pieces, does not by itself make it yours. Commission on a payment that is refunded or charged back is taken back off your balance. Commission is held for 60 days after it is earned before it can be paid, on every payment alike. Balances are paid by hand, monthly, once the amount that has come through that hold reaches $50. Codes are issued by us and may be paused, which stops new referrals being attributed and leaves commission already recorded unaffected. The program is described in full on thepartners page.

A plan line sold at an agency price earns a lower rate than standard plans, due to the reduced margins on agency pricing, for the same 12 months. That rate is stated in your written approval or on your partner page. Agency plans are not offered at the date of these terms; the rule is stated now because it is part of what you agree to when a code is issued. An agency holding a code earns the standard rate on a customer it refers to us directly and the lower rate on another agency it refers. Commission is earned on referred customers only: there is no commission for recruiting other partners.

The first 20 partners to hold a code may have a Growth account for their own business at no charge, for as long as at least 2 of the customers they referred are paying for a plan. We check this once a month, at the payout run, and set the account by hand when a partner qualifies and asks. After 2 monthly checks in a row below that, the free account ends with 30 days of notice, and the partner may keep it on an ordinary paid plan or close it. It earns no commission and changes no rate, window or condition above.

Wherever you promote PlainQuill you must clearly and conspicuously disclose that you earn a commission, in a place a reader sees before they follow your link, and we may ask to see where a placement ran. Promoting without that disclosure is grounds for terminating your participation and forfeiting unpaid commission. You may not promise rankings, traffic, income or results, or describe features the product does not have; what our own site claims is the limit of what may be claimed for us. You may not use unsolicited bulk messaging of any kind, bid on our name or confusingly similar terms in search advertising, register domains that do the same, or use cookie stuffing, forced clicks, hidden frames or links that misrepresent where they lead. Self-referral is not permitted in any form, which is the rule above about any account you or your own business owns or pays for. You participate as an independent contractor: nothing here creates employment, agency, a partnership, or authority to bind us.

We may change the commission rate or these program terms on notice to you. A change applies only to referrals attributed and commission accrued after it takes effect, and never to commission already earned. Tracking and attribution are technical systems and errors occur: a referral may fail to be recorded, a cookie may be lost or refused, an outage may drop a click. Where we can verify that a referral was missed we may credit it, and whether and how to rectify any tracking error is decided by us in good faith and at our discretion. Commission that has been recorded and is verifiable is always honoured.

Payouts are made in US dollars by Wise, to a Wise account or a bank account, and PayPal is available on request. Any conversion or receiving fee charged by your bank or payment provider comes out of the amount you receive. Tax is yours to handle: we do not withhold, and where the law requires it we will ask for a W-9 from partners in the United States, or a W-8BEN from partners outside it, before your first payment is made. Earning more than $600 in a year decides whether we file a 1099-NEC about a United States partner at year end, not whether the form is needed. If we end the program, or if you close your partner account, commission already earned and past its hold is paid at the next monthly run; commission still inside the hold is paid when it clears. Commission attached to a code we paused for abuse is not.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, where MaximizeMy.Business LLC is registered, and the state and federal courts there are where a dispute about them is heard. If you are a consumer somewhere whose law gives you rights you cannot agree away, that law still applies to you and this clause does not take it from you.

14. Contact and changes to these terms

PlainQuill is operated by MaximizeMy.Business LLC.

If you have an account, questions about these terms go to support through the dashboard. If you do not, write to hello@plainquill.com, which is read by a person. When we change these terms we will post the updated version here with a new effective date and notify active customers.

Effective 30 September 2026. These terms apply to any account created from that date. Section 4 changed on 5 October 2026, and that change applies to payments taken from that date. Section 12 changed on 5 October 2026: the commission rate is stated in each partner's written approval rather than on this page, and no partner's rate changed.

Get started

Run it on your own site

Checkout takes your first month, or your first year on annual billing, and the plan starts, on your own site and your own topics. You approve every piece before it goes live, and you can cancel any time from the dashboard. Ask within 7 days of a payment and you get all of it back while fewer than 7 articles have been generated since that payment. From 7 on, you get back the part that covers the articles not yet generated.
