PlainQuill against the rank and AI visibility trackers

Two markets have to be bought separately almost everywhere: a rank tracker for your Google positions, and an AI visibility tracker for whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude name you. We are the cheapest way to have both, on a small number of searches, and we are not the deepest instrument for either.

Only what each vendor states publicly is listed here, read from their own pricing pages in September 2026. Where a vendor does not state something, this table says so rather than guessing. Prices carrying a marker link to the page they were read from.

Why there are so few tracked searches

A report of two hundred positions is a haystack

Every tracker above sells volume, because volume is easy to price and easy to deliver. A one-person business does not have two thousand terms and cannot read a report with two thousand rows in it. We track the handful you are actually trying to own, and the small number is the point rather than the ceiling: another 5 cost $0.80 each per month, and you can add as many packs as you like.

The measurement writes the next article

A tracker hands you a dashboard and the work starts there. Here the position and the citation state of each tracked search are read straight into the plan for the next piece, and a search we are not ranking for is a reason to write for it rather than a reason to drop it. Nothing on that path needs you to open anything.

Four assistants, on the cheapest plan

We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude on every plan, at no extra charge. The cheapest standalone tracker in this table charges the price of its whole entry tier again for Claude alone, and the best known name in the segment leaves Claude out of its free week and prices everything past it to order. Breadth is the one axis in this category where we are ahead, and it is worth stating exactly rather than dressing up as depth.

Honestly

When to buy one of these instead

Our tracking is a reporting and steering layer inside a content service. It is not an AI visibility product, and it should not be bought as a replacement for one.

  • You need to watch hundreds of terms. Plans include 2 to 6 tracked searches, and packs of 5 take that up in fives. If you need two thousand keyword positions, SE Ranking and AccuRanker sell exactly that and we do not. The small number here is a decision rather than a limitation, but a decision is still a no.
  • You rank outside Google, or across several places at once. We record Google positions and nothing else, in ONE country you choose, and on Growth and Max we also read the Google Maps pack for ONE place you give us. There is no language setting, no second engine, and no way to watch the same search from several towns at once. Nightwatch tracks Google, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and Maps, in any location or language, on 500 keywords rather than 2 to 6.
  • You want AI answers checked every day, on every plan. Profound, Otterly and Nightwatch all check daily, and say so on their own pages. We check weekly, and daily only on Max. If the cadence is the product, buy the product whose cadence it is.
  • You want sentiment and share of voice, scored over time. The AI visibility tools sell an analysis layer: how you are described, how favourably, and how your share of an answer moves over time. We record whether each assistant cited you, which domains it named instead of you, and the opening of the answer it gave, and on the search side, who is ahead of you and how far each of them has moved over the last fortnight. None of it is scored, and a score is what that layer is.
  • You want to track a page that is not on your own site. For each of your tracked searches we report two positions rather than one: where the article we published sits, and where the best other page on your own domain sits, so a page you wrote years ago is reported as yours rather than read as nothing. Your homepage is read as well, for your own business name. What we will not do is measure an address that is not yours, and every tracker above points at any URL you give it.

One more worth naming and impossible to price: Peec tracks 50 prompts a day across three models you pick, rising to 350, and no currency amount appears anywhere in its own pricing page, so we do not quote one.[8] We do not promise rankings or traffic figures. Reporting a position is not promising one, and we will not pretend a number we measured is a number we control.
